Different To Other Online Art Courses
It's about how YOU do the drawing. It's about how you practice your art skills without it feeling like practice. This is the key to mastery.
Here's what students are saying about Draw Awesome...
How Draw Awesome Works
Draw Awesome is a syllabus of weekly drawing projects that you complete, along side me, via unique online video lessons.

A Year's Worth of Drawing Projects
Everyone who joins Draw Awesome begins with the same project and follows the syllabus in the same order, regardless of when they start.
The syllabus lasts for one year and consists of 33 instructor-led projects and 11 challenge-based projects, taken one week at a time.
You'll see the biggest transformation by completing the entire syllabus but you can choose to commit to only one month at a time.
Enroll TodayWeekly Projects That Fit Round Your Schedule
Every week, you get a new drawing project to complete, and you follow that project along with me via a uniquely-designed, online video lesson.
You can follow each drawing project on any day of the week, and at any time that suits you. You're not fixed to set times like you are with live lessons.
Enroll TodayModules & Themes That Keep Us Focused
Draw Awesome projects are grouped into 11 Modules, each lasting for 4 weeks. Each Module focuses on a specific medium or a specific theme.
In the first Module, we focus on essential drawing and observation techniques with graphite pencils. Then we gradually introduce 5 other drawing mediums.
Later Modules are focused on subject-based themes like landscapes, animals and portraits.
Enroll TodayNot Your Typical Online Art Lessons
The Draw Awesome video lessons are uniquely designed so that ALL the emphasis is on YOU doing the drawing - not just watching me make something cool.
Most online art instruction leaves you completely in the dark when it comes to actually implementing a lesson afterward. Not Draw Awesome! You will know precisely what to do at every stage.
Enroll TodayMaster a Wide Range of Mediums, Styles & Subjects
It's not just about pencil drawing! You'll learn how to make stunning art with graphite, charcoal, ink, ink with watercolour, pastel pencil and coloured pencils.

The Mediums You'll Create With
You'll master 6 different drawing mediums over the course of the Draw Awesome syllabus, creating in both black & white and vibrant colour.
Graphite Pencils
The first and most widely used tool in every artist's kit - and the best for learning the fundamentals!
Charcoal
Great for blending and shading large areas quickly, we'll be using a range of charcoal supplies.
Ink Pens
Ink pens will help you master the art of hatching, weight of line, and allowing the paper surface to show through!
Pastel Pencils
A very underrated medium for mastering colour, and the one I recommend every artist should try.
Pen & Watercolour
A really in-vogue combination - perfect for quick, expressive sketches with loads of character and energy!
Coloured Pencils
Perfect for detailed, photo-realistic studies but overlooked for looser, quicker sketching. Not by us!
What Materials Will I Need?
The 6 drawing mediums above are introduced gradually over the course of the Draw Awesome syllabus. So you'll have plenty of time to gather anything you don't have already.
The Subjects We'll Cover
You'll be drawing a wide variety of subjects throughout the Draw Awesome syllabus - from simpler still life to challenging portraits! Here are the main categories.
Still Life
You'll be drawing a range of still life subjects - both traditional and modern.
Animals
Animals are another subject matter we cover in a number of Draw Awesome projects.
Landscapes
You'll also be drawing landscapes, seascapes and elements from the natural world.
Urban
Urban subjects include things like street scenes, buildings and architecture.
Portraits
Faces and facial features play a big role in the Draw Awesome syllabus.
Figures
And we'll also be doing some human figure drawing together too.
The Styles You'll Master
We'll cover a range of styles throughout our Draw Awesome projects - all underpinned by solid proportions, shapes, light and shadow.
Traditional Style
This is the most realistic style we'll cover, without it being photo-realistic (which can be very time-consuming). We'll carefully observe lights and shadows to create nice shading, and we'll allow pencil/pen marks to show through to retain energy and character!
* Images are for illustration only and not necessarily what we cover in projects.
Enroll TodaySketchy Style
This is a looser and freer style that is quicker than traditional shading and drawing. It's perfect for more complex subjects where we spend more time on things like proportion and shape. It's also a style that's "in vogue" and universally appreciated!
* Images are for illustration only and not necessarily what we cover in projects.
Enroll TodayQuirky Style
We'll occasionally throw in a less traditional and more graphical style when the subject benefits from it. Colours will be vivid, mark-making expressive and the outcome... lots of fun!
* Images are for illustration only and not necessarily what we cover in projects.

How Much Time Do I Need?
Draw Awesome is about YOU achieving a transformation in your drawing ability. If you're willing to commit the time to your art, I'll take care of the rest!
One Morning or Afternoon Per Week
Most drawing projects require about 4 hours. That's one morning, or one afternoon, or a couple of evenings per week. And that covers both watching the lessons AND completing your drawing.
You don't have to complete a project all in one session - you can split it up over several days if you prefer.
Enroll TodayThe Project Orientation Puts You in the Picture
Each project begins with a short Project Orientation video. This video gives you the big picture of what to expect - including how much time the project will take and example schedules you can follow.
Project Orientation videos are always less than 5 minutes, meaning you don't have to waste time watching a lesson twice.
Enroll TodayWhy are projects released every seven days and not all at once?
One project a week is just the right amount for most people. It's an achievable amount of art to commit to and it provides enough practice to see a measurable improvement in your art skills by the end of the course.
If you try to cram too much in too quickly, you're likely to rush through. You're also much less likely to reach the finish line because of burnout.
It's not about how quickly you complete the projects - it's about how thoroughly you complete them. Releasing projects on a weekly basis is an important part of this.
Get Access to Our Private Community of Draw Awesome Students
The members-only Draw Awesome community is a supportive, close-knit group, exclusively for Draw Awesome students. It's a place where you can share your project artwork, take part in challenges, ask for help, and get feedback.

Your Instructor
Hi there, I'm Phil and if you join me, I'll be taking you through the Draw Awesome projects.
You might know me from another art-based website called ArtTutor (how many art websites does one person need?!) but more likely, you don't know from Adam. So here's my life story a little bit about my background...
I'm a self-taught artist and I've had the opportunity to teach quite a lot of students over the last 10 years, through various online courses.
I'm from the city of Liverpool in the UK but I use my posh telephone voice on the videos, so you should be able to understand me okay!
Faces are my favourite thing to draw (especially of family and friends), but by no means the only thing I draw. If you'd like to see some of my artwork, click or tap here.
Before You Decide to Enroll...
Draw Awesome isn't for everyone.
It's not a course that you watch passively in the hope that you'll pick up a few pointers here and there...
It's about making a commitment to improving your drawing skills by completing the projects to the best of your ability - consistently over an extended period of time. 🙌
It doesn't matter what your current ability level is. It DOES matter what your level of desire and commitment to improving is!
Yes, you only committing (financially) to one month at a time with our monthly plan, but your intent should be to complete the full syllabus - just as it would be if you joined a college course for example.
It's important we're clear about this before going any further and before you invest in this experience.
If you are ready to dive in head first, then I'd love to the chance to be your guide and drawing mentor!
